Sizewell C has appointed recruitment provider Rullion to lead its early careers programme, helping to build the skilled workforce needed to deliver one of Britain’s largest clean energy projects.
Under an initial three-year partnership, Rullion will manage all early careers recruitment for the Sizewell C project, attracting, assessing and developing apprentices, graduates, industrial placement students and interns from Suffolk and across the UK.
The partnership comes as Sizewell C ramps up investment in future talent. The project is expected to create around 1,500 apprenticeships during construction, with at least 540 opportunities reserved for people from Suffolk, helping to leave a lasting skills legacy in the region.
This September alone, 28 apprentices will join Sizewell C across 11 apprenticeship programmes, alongside 60 graduates and industrial placement students. The new intake spans a wide range of sectors, including nuclear engineering, civil engineering, project management, cyber security, data analytics, quality, health and safety, business administration and countryside management.
Sarah Hancock, Chief People Office at Sizewell C, said: “Developing the next generation of talent is critical to both the success of Sizewell C and the future of the UK’s nuclear industry. Through this partnership with Rullion, we are creating exciting opportunities for young people to gain valuable skills, build rewarding careers and play a part in delivering Britain’s clean energy future.
“We are committed to ensuring these opportunities are accessible to local people across Suffolk while attracting the best talent from across the country.”
Rullion will provide a dedicated managed service combining specialist early careers recruitment expertise with candidate engagement, assessment delivery and data-led insight. The partnership will also place a strong emphasis on candidate experience, ensuring young people receive valuable feedback, career guidance and employability support throughout the recruitment process.
James Saoulli, CEO of Rullion, said: “Nuclear is one of the most exciting growth stories in UK infrastructure, and its success will be built on the people who choose to work in it. The early careers opportunities created through Sizewell C are an important first step in building the workforce this industry will need over the next thirty years. I’m proud of what Rullion has built with Sizewell C, and excited about everything still to come.”
A key priority for both organisations is ensuring opportunities are accessible to a broad and diverse range of candidates, particularly those from local communities in Suffolk. Rullion will work closely with schools, colleges and education providers across the region to raise awareness of the wide range of careers available through Sizewell C and inspire more young people to pursue careers in nuclear and infrastructure.
Earlier this year, Sizewell C signed its third and final Memorandum of Understanding with leading further education providers across Suffolk and the East of England, designed to strengthen skills, create opportunities, and invest in its future workforce. The project has also signed the Power of Youth Charter, which gives young people a voice in key decisions, and is funding programmes specifically targeted at supporting young people not in education, employment or training (NEETs).
