Hi, I’m Olivia, and I’m currently completing a year-long Industrial Placement at Sizewell C.
While this scheme is typically aimed at students undertaking a placement year as part of their degree, I joined after completing my masters. I saw the placement as an opportunity to build hands-on experience in a supportive environment and fully immerse myself in the day-to-day workings of one of the UK’s biggest mega-projects.
The placement has given me space to learn, ask questions and understand where my strengths lie. It’s been a fantastic way to gain invaluable experience and to be able to say I’ve contributed to a project of this scale is something I’m really proud of.
I’ve really appreciated the mentorship and guidance I’ve received from my team but also the encouragement and openness of everyone I’ve met on the project. For me, this placement offers the perfect blend of structure, learning and flexibility – ideal for someone looking to grow professionally.
