What is the Civil Works Alliance?

The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) for Sizewell C is a single delivery organisation that includes the client (Sizewell C), Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.

All bring significant years of learning and experience from Hinkley Point C – and other major complex infrastructure projects – to deliver the full civils scope on Sizewell C.

What is the CWA doing on Sizewell C?

The CWA’s scope is divided into several areas:

  • Enabling Works and Earthworks
  • Marine and Tunnelling (3 undersea tunnels circa 3km in length)
  • Main Civil Works ( 2 EPR’s and 50 building structures)
  • Ancillary Works
  • Permanent Roads and Networks

What opportunities do you have available for young people on Sizewell C?

We are currently recruiting Civil Engineering Apprentices. The programme will be delivered locally in Suffolk. We will soon open recruitment for our Digital Apprenticeship.

Apprenticeships allow individuals to earn while they learn while gaining a nationally recognised qualification. Lots of additional opportunities will be available in the coming years!

What will young people need in order to apply?

  • 112 UCAS tariff points (or above): from an appropriate Level 3 qualification or sufficient work experience and maturity to become a degree apprentice
  • A minimum of Level 2 English and Maths: or be able to achieve this prior to taking the EPA
  • Maths at Level 3: or demonstration of capability to study Maths at Level 4/5 through completion of a pre-course assessment
