Contractors across Sizewell C

G4S is a world leader in security, and now we’re helping to keep Sizewell C safe! Sizewell C is a new power station being built to make electricity for millions of homes in the UK.

Our job is to protect the site, the people working there, and the important equipment that’s being built. We do this with lots of friendly security officers from the local area, plus clever technology that helps us spot and stop problems quickly.

We’ve done this before at another big power station called Hinkley Point C, so we know how to mix modern technology with teamwork and training to keep everything running smoothly.

What Do Security Officers Do?

Security officers are like the guardians of Sizewell C. They:

  • Check who’s coming in and out.

  • Make sure the site is safe.

  • Help everything stay calm and organised.

It’s an important job because the power station will one day provide clean energy for Britain’s future!

Training and Careers

You don’t need to be an expert to start—G4S gives full training, even if you’ve never worked in security before. There are apprenticeships too, so you can keep learning and maybe move into specialist or leadership roles later on.

Working Life

Officers work in teams on a regular shift pattern (4 days on, 4 days off). That means there’s time for rest, hobbies, and family in between.

Why It’s Special

Working at Sizewell C isn’t just a job—it’s a chance to be part of something really big and important. Security officers get useful skills, steady work, and the pride of helping build a safer, cleaner future for everyone.

What we look for when recruiting:

We look for reliability, teamwork, and a willingness to learn. No experience? No problem—we provide all training. Show enthusiasm, ask questions, and be ready to work as part of a close-knit team.

Employee Profile G4S

Joshua Stothard currently a Step-Up Supervisor:

Hello, my name is Joshua Stothard, I am 21 years old, and I am a Step-Up Supervisor for G4S at Sizewell C. I live in Lowestoft which is a 40-minute commute to work, and I have been living there for 10 years. I joined G4S in August 2023, and it’s been an amazing journey since I joined. I have learnt so many new skills to become a better officer but also the people that surround me like supervisors, team leaders, other officers and operations managers that have made me become a better person in my personal life. As I think I am a completely different person from when I first joined to now.

My journey being with G4S has been amazing, I have gained many qualifications like first aid at work. I became a Step Up Supervisor in January 2025 which I couldn’t believe it when I got the phone call to say I was successful and to be a Step Up at 21 years old for Sizewell C it has proved to me and other young aspiring officers that they can progress if they really want to.

Being an officer for G4S has also made me do the unthinkable at the age of 21 and that is to be able to buy a house. Me and my girlfriend, who is also 21, have been putting money away starting from January 2024 and in May 2025 we enquired about a new build that’s happening in Leiston and the same day we put down a reservation and we got told we can afford the house and from this day we are going through the mortgage process and we are predicted to be moving in January 2026.

Being an officer for G4S at Sizewell C has a lot of positives for me, I enjoy working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern as there is the perfect work-life balance to go out and be with family and friends. There are also plenty of overtime opportunities if I want to make a bit extra money if I’m saving for something, which is what I did because I was saving up for the deposit for the house and holidays.

I can’t wait for what my future holds at G4S at Sizewell C. My next step is to become full time as a supervisor and hopefully through hard work then progress to be a Security Team Leader.
